The King.

The Petition in this matter, as we previously

informed you, has been duly deposited, and we have been

endeavouring to arrange for its coming before the Board in

the course of this week. We have today see the Registrar

of the Privy Council and he informs us it will not be possible

for the Petition to be heard this week, and probably not

until the latter part of next week.

We observe that the sentence on the Petitioner

was respited for three months from the 12th September last,

+ which period would expire on Monday next, and in the eiroum-

stances you may consider it proper to communicate with the

Governor of the Colony by cablegram suggesting a further

respite pending the hearing of the Petition.
